Angie shares the origin story about her radio segment “Battle of The Beats” and how it became a power house in New York City. As a platform for emerging artists, “Battle of The Beats” introduced a young JAY Z’s music to the New York City airwaves. Later on “Battle of The Beats” would showcase the historic battle between NAS & JAY Z, playing their songs “Ether” and “Super Ugly”, as the two MC’s battled each other and became Kings of New York.

Angie Martinez shares how important it is to stay grounded, fair and truthful while interviewing artists during their highs and lows.

She also shares stories about her days at Hot 97, why she eventually left the radio station for the rival Power 105 and how the move positively impacted her career.

Angie shares memories of Big Pun, Eazy-E, and talks about her favorite eras in Hip-Hop. Angie also shares stories of her Hip-Hop collectible items and how she received them.
